SUSTAINABILITY

Cadman is committed to operating in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. We actively advocate for the use of low carbon concrete and support sustainable concrete and construction practices.

We advocate for science-based research to drive innovation and deliver long-term results. Our labs are busy working on the next generation of building materials that will have a lower environmental footprint and bring us closer to our net zero goal. As we invest in research, the majority goes towards our goal of carbon neutral concrete by 2050. Our capital investments in more efficient equipment and new technology help us stay competitive and reduce our reliance on energy and water.

Cadman is committed to supporting Green Building Councils and local and national industry trade associations to lead the development of sustainable solutions for the built environment. We believe that a collaborative effort with stakeholders is a quicker path to developing new technologies that can make an immediate impact to lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). In 2020, Cadman and Lehigh Hanson made an investment in more bench marking and increased transparency for environmental impacts as we begin publishing more environmental product declarations (EPDs).

Quantity – Measurements are not always precise, especially with large areas that are not machine graded. We recommend ordering a little extra, because coming up short can be costly (small load charges, labor wait times, etc.). A common rule of thumb is to add 4% to 10% to your calculation to account for waste, spillage, over excavation, settlement, spreading of forms, loss of entrained air or other changes in volume. Concrete can be ordered in ½ yard increments.

Strength – Most concrete is ordered with a performance compressive strength at a 28-day measure of a hardened concrete cylinder. We have information on our website for typical application specifications and proper testing procedures. Any slab exposed to freeze-thaw conditions should be a minimum of 4,000 psi with air entrainment.

Slump – Slump is a measure of the consistency or workability of the concrete. Typically, orders and mixture designs are for a 4-inch slump (the measure of the distance a wet concrete cone will fall). It is always best to adjust slump at the plant.

Other Supplies – Do you need aggregates (fill sand, stone or gravel) for the project? If so, check out our aggregates LOCATIONS to supply your needs.

ColorMix™ Color Chart

ColorMix ™ Custom Mix

Cadman Lab Systems™ is our line of "branded" concrete mixes. They are custom, all inclusive mixes, each of which is designed for a specific purpose. These mixes are designed for easier placement, pumpability, and cost savings.

A superior integral concrete coloring system that provides the following benefits:

  • Concrete mix specifically designed for color consistency load to load.
  • Incorporates Fly Ash which improves workability and reduces efflorescence (whitening) and water demand.
  • Low water/cement ratio which means reduction in shrinkage and cracking.
  • Designed at a 5" +/- 1" slump to improve workability.
  • Available in 3/8" pea gravel for maximum ease in placing and pumping.
  • Twenty popular Northwest colors available locally.
  • State of the art liquid color metering system ensures consistency for weighting, blending and conveying colors into a ready mix truck.
  • Improves freeze/thaw resistance, strength and durability.

Cadman's intergrated ColorMix™ enhances the beauty of your project and increases property value. Our ColorMix™ combines contemporary looks with timeless style. The twenty color mixes offered were selected by historical tracking of the most popular colors sold in the Northwest.

ColorMix™ is integrated throughout the pour so it will not fade. In addition, ColorMix™ combined with Architectural Concrete allowes a choice of stamped and textured finishes that create unique and attractive options for you. ColorMix™ can also be enhanced with matching color curing sealants.

It's what you don't see that counts!

Cadman's PermaWall™ is a proprietary concrete mix developed by Cadman and designed specifically for use with your Insulating Concrete Form construction projects.

  • Contains special admixtures that make the concrete self-compacting which eliminates the need for vibration, while ensuring no voids within your completed wall.
  • Low water contents with very high workability means reduction in shrinkage and improved bond to reinforcing steel.
  • Mix designed to reach 850 psi in one day and over 2000 psi in 7 days which means bracing may be stripped in as little as 24 hours.
  • Designed with 3/8" aggregate to aid in placing and self-consolidation.
  • Contains almost 40% fly ash for an environmentally friendly mix to use in your "green" project.
  • Ensures a smooth, flowable mix, designed specifically for use in ICF walls where there are obstacles of plastic webbing and reinforcing steel.

ProwFlow

Pro-Flow ™ Custom Mix

Cadman Lab Systems™ is our line of "branded" concrete mixes. They are custom, all inclusive mixes, each of which is designed for a specific purpose. These mixes are designed for easier placement, pumpability, and cost savings.

Go with the flow!

Cadman's Pro-Flow™ is a controlled density fill for backfill projects.

  • Pro-Flow™ is a series of 6 specialty mixes designed to replace conventional compacted back-fill.
  • Fast set times, even in cool, wet soil conditions, means more efficient.
  • Designed to reduce labor costs. No compaction required (except for Dry-Pack).
  • Remains excavatable for the life of the project.
  • Excellent stability for even tough pumping demands. Designed to be flowable, cohesive and non-bleeding.
  • Flowability allows for ease of placement and compaction in areas where standard back-fills simply cannot be used (i.e., pipes, cables, etc.)
