Lori Tiefenthaler honored with NRMCA John Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award for Promotion

Heidelberg Materials North America is pleased to announce its Senior Director of Marketing, Lori Tiefenthaler, was recently recognized by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) as the recipient of the John Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award for Promotion. This prestigious award recognizes an individual who is a ready mixed concrete professional distinguished by a career that has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication and achievement in support of concrete promotion and industry advancement. Lori has done just that throughout her entire professional life.

“Lori is a staunch supporter of NRMCA through her participation on the NRMCA Sustainability Committee and the NRMCA Promotion Committee, among others. She’s helped guide the association through her leadership as chairperson of the NRMCA Sustainability Committee in 2014-2016,” said Lionel Lemay, Executive Vice President, Structures and Sustainability, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. “I’ve had the pleasure to work with Lori over the years, and she is always willing to dedicate her time and talent to promote concrete which make her a deserving recipient of NRMCA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Promotion.”

Lori began her career working for ready mixed concrete producers in Iowa before joining the Iowa Concrete Paving Association as Vice President, where she became known as one of the best promoters for concrete pavements in the country. She then took on the role of Executive Director of the Portland Cement Association Southeast Regions where she supported concrete construction in partnership with NRMCA state affiliates in promoting building and pavements. Lori has been with Heidelberg Materials North America (formerly Lehigh Hanson) since 2010, where she has continued to advance the sustainable and innovative use of concrete for the industry serving in her current role as Senior Director of Marketing.

“In her 15 years with our company and throughout her career, Lori has tirelessly advocated for the use of concrete for more sustainable, durable and resilient construction projects,” said Chris Ward, President and CEO of Heidelberg Materials North America. “Her passion and commitment to the concrete industry is second to none.”

In 2017, Lori served as chair of the American Concrete Paving Association, becoming the first woman to serve as the top volunteer leader in the group’s 54-year history. The following year she received the 2018 John P. Gleason Leadership Award for Market Development from the Portland Cement Association. The award honors leadership in shaping a favorable competitive marketplace through activities such as national and regional marketing and promotion, imaging and branding, federal and local advocacy, codes and standards, and work with academia. In 2021, Lori was awarded NRMCA’s Promoter of the Year – Buildings Award.

Lori's dedication to promoting concrete and sustainability has made significant impacts in the industry through her leadership, educational efforts, and active involvement in various committees and associations, and has left a distinct and definitive mark on the industry over her career.
