Heidelberg Materials North America recently welcomed a bipartisan group of Congressional Chiefs of Staff to our Granville Island ready-mixed concrete facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, in partnership with the American Cement Association (ACA) and Center Forward.

The visit provided an opportunity for participants to see firsthand how cement and concrete manufacturing supports the infrastructure, communities, and economies that North Americans rely on every day. Discussions focused on cement manufacturing, industry innovation, and policy priorities that support investment, sustainability, and infrastructure development.

ACA's Vice President and General Counsel Leah Pilconis, shared an overview of cement manufacturing and key industry priorities, including transportation reauthorization, the ReCement Act, and continued innovation across the cement and concrete value chain. 

"Connecting policymakers directly with the people and facilities that produce the materials essential to our nation's infrastructure helps bring industry priorities to life," Pilconis said.

Heidelberg Materials team members also highlighted emerging technologies and practices, including blended cements, supplementary cementitious materials, and alternative fuels. 

"There's no substitute for seeing our operations firsthand and meeting the people behind the work," said David Perkins, Senior Vice President Sustainability and Public Affairs at Heidelberg Materials North America. "These visits help build a stronger understanding of the role our industry plays in supporting resilient communities and economic growth."
