Hanson Aggregates‘ Lithonia (Georgia) Quarry hosted the Greater Lithonia Chamber of Commerce’s final Coffee Connections of 2017 and offered business owners and stakeholders a bus tour of the operation, On Common Ground News reports. Quarry Office Manager Chris Edwards led the tour through the entire operation, including the pit at the bottom of Pine Mountain where the rock is excavated.

According to the news agency, Edwards discussed the quarry’s history, including the fact that it once supplied chicken feed, and talked about some of the more recent projects it has worked on, such as the new Mercedes Benz Stadium. He also noted that Hanson Aggregates supplied all of the concrete for the stadium, which included 250,000 tons of rock.

Hanson says it is committed to educating the community about what it does and how it protects the environment during those processes. The public is invited to tour the quarry.
