Downingtown Quarry Hosts Tour With U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan

Downingtown Quarry Visit

The Hanson Aggregates Downingtown Quarry welcomed U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-06) for a tour of the facility on February 22, 2022. The Congresswoman and members of her staff visited with employees and learned about aggregates production, the importance of the local geology to our business, our focus on sustainability and the role that aggregates play in the state economy.

Company representatives, including Mark Kendrick, Vice President & General Manager for Eastern/Central Pennsylvania & Southern New Jersey, Andrew Gutshall, Area Environmental Manager for Eastern/Central Pennsylvania & Southern New Jersey and Chad Drzewiecki, Downingtown Quarry Plant Manager, were in attendance. In addition, Josie Gaskey, Director Environmental, Safety & Health, from the Pennsylvania Aggregates & Concrete Association (PACA) was also present.

“We were pleased to host Representative Houlahan at our Downingtown Quarry” said Mark Kendrick, Vice President & General Manager. “It is very important that we are able to help our elected officials better understand our business and how it positively contributes to the local economy and the growth of the great state of Pennsylvania.”

"I first met with the Hanson Aggregates team in Downingtown during the fall of 2020,” said Rep. Chrissy Houlahan. “As I regularly do, I concluded our meeting by asking them how I could continue to support their business and address their needs. The group replied, ‘We need an infrastructure bill!' They gave a unique perspective on why our community would greatly benefit from this generational investment, and I carried that message back to DC. I proudly voted to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and I’m so glad I had the chance to come back this week to celebrate our successes through that generational investment."

The company has hosted similar tours for elected officials over the past few months and plans more such visits at production sites throughout the U.S.

“We will continue to foster positive relationships with our elected officials across the country,” said David Perkins, Vice President of Government Affairs and Communications for Lehigh Hanson. “These tours are great opportunities to help educate government leaders on our business and also provide us with insight into their priorities as well.”
