Annually, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) recognizes outstanding achievements for member companies in safety and environmental performance. We are pleased to announce Heidelberg Materials was recognized earlier this week in both of those categories.
2023 Energy & Environment Award for Outreach – Union Bridge, Maryland
Our Union Bridge Cement Plant in Maryland received the 2023 Energy & Environment Award for Outreach, recognizing the plants outstanding community relations efforts that go above and beyond what is required. The State of Maryland made a substantial move forward in greenhouse gas emission reduction with the passage of the Climate Solutions Now Act in 2022, which calls for Maryland to reach “net zero” by 2045. Heidelberg Materials engaged with policymakers in Maryland to help shape the state’s program and provide key input into the State’s goals through a transparent and interactive engagement strategy.
2023 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award - Bellingham, Washington
Our Bellingham, Washington Grinding Facility received the 2023 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award. This award is given to PCA member cement plants that do not have a reportable injury or illness during the year. Fifteen plants achieved this in 2023, which represents more than 10% of all active cement facilities in the U.S. and its territories. This level of excellence is achieved through leadership and teamwork.
