Giving Back to the Communities Where We Do Business

Lehigh Hanson is committed to giving back to the communities where we do business. As part of that commitment, the company introduced its Lehigh Hanson Cares program earlier this year. The program includes –an employee donation matching component and a “Dollars for Doers” component – where the company donates to charities where our employees volunteer.

Lehigh Hanson also supports local community outreach at our plant sites. For example, our South Carolina Hanson Aggregates Sandy Flat Quarry recently hosted their first ever “Hard Rock Run” where they offered local runners a unique and exciting 5k run through the quarry. A successful turnout of 124 runners from the community participated and were able to experience a run through amazing scenery not usually open to the public. Proceeds of the event went to support the Greenville Humane Society.

Other examples of community outreach include a summer food drive at the corporate office in Irving, Texas, where employees donated money, non-perishable food and hygiene products to the Irving Cares food bank. In addition, our Hanson Aggregates Servtex Quarry collected more than 6,930 pounds of food for The Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program (RACAP). These donations went to feeding local children over the summer, the food bank’s busiest season.

Many of our plant locations also host open houses to help our neighbors understand what we do and give them an up close and personal look at our operations. One example of this type event is the annual open house at our Ocean Concrete operations on Granville Island in Vancouver, British Columbia, which attracts thousands of local residents every year. Other locations also provide tours and host community events on a regular basis.

From charitable giving and events to open houses and beyond, Lehigh Hanson encourages all of our locations to actively engage the local community and positively contribute to its growth and success.
