On December 4, 2020, the Lehigh Hanson Bridgeport team welcomed nearly 30 guests for a presentation and tour of the Texas facility. Members of the Western Caucus Foundation were joined by staff from the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association for their 2020 Winter Policy Trip to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in conjunction with the National Finals Rodeo for a great morning in Bridgeport.
The group, representing both the US Senate and House Western Caucuses, and other organizations, primarily focuses on policy areas of energy, environmental stewardship, agriculture and forestry, as well as judicial and regulatory reform and took the opportunity to learn about how those issues are important and relevant to us. Guests included representation from several Congressional offices as well as staff from the US Senate, along with the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Over the course of approximately two hours, attendees had the opportunity to learn about the various operational processes in place at Bridgeport, including environmental and stewardship practices, as well as key policy priorities for our company and industry.
"The key to the success of this event was the extensive planning, especially safety-focused procedures, to ensure that all COVID-related measures and precautions were taken for all involved in the tour," said David Perkins, Vice President of Government Affairs & Communications for Lehigh Hanson.
The Bridgeport team went above and beyond to ensure that the facility was well-prepared for the group, and the impression that the visit made on attendees was significant.
