Last month our Servtex Quarry right outside of San Antonio, Texas, hosted an open house for the local community. The event was held Saturday, November 11, and was well-attended by neighbors from the surrounding cites of Garden Ridge, New Braunfels and Schertz. Attendees were treated to a barbeque lunch, bounce houses for the kids, a tour of the plant and had the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes, including gift cards, Yeti cups and Yeti coolers.
John Keller, Area Operations Manager, and Bill Saly, Plant Manager, hosted the event and other employees were on-hand to share information about the products made at Servtex, equipment used and the importance of working safely.
Representatives from Buckley Powder and Vibra-Tech were onsite to answer questions about the blasting processes at the site and local first responders were also present. Since the event was held on Veteran’s Day, the staff offered local veterans a commemorative hat branded with the Heidelberg Materials logo and featuring an American flag.
“We were pleased by the attendance and participation in our community open house,” said Bill Saly, Plant Manager at the Servtex Quarry. “This was a great opportunity to meet local residents face-to-face and give them a chance to see the facility and what we do here.”
Open houses like this one are a great way to strengthen the relationship with the local residents and go a long way in demonstrating our commitment to transparency and giving back to the communities where we operate.
