Earlier this fall, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) announced the winners of its 2025 Environmental Excellence Awards, marking the 30th year of this prestigious program. These awards honored NRMCA Producer members who demonstrated exceptional commitment to environmental protection and sound management practices, going beyond regulatory compliance to lead the way in sustainability.
This year, Heidelberg Materials North America proudly celebrated two ready-mixed concrete plants recognized in the Western Region category. The Hockley Plant in Hockley, Texas, earned Second Place (tie), while the Brookshire Plant in Brookshire, Texas, received Third Place. These achievements underscored Heidelberg Materials’ dedication to environmental stewardship and innovation across its operations.
Entries were judged on ten criteria, including site aesthetics, environmental documentation, staff training, water and air quality management, returned concrete plans, community relations, concrete delivery, and plant sustainability practices. The program highlighted ready-mixed concrete plants that successfully integrated environmental management systems into their operations.
“We are incredibly proud of our teams at Hockley and Brookshire for achieving this recognition,” said Chris Hobby, President of Heidelberg Materials North America's Southwest Region. “These awards highlight the dedication and hard work our employees put into prioritizing sustainability every day—not just within our plants, but in the communities where we live and work. Congratulations to the Hockley and Brookshire plants on a job well done."
