Hanson Aggregates, a subsidiary of Lehigh Hanson, Inc., recently donated approximately 200 acres of reclaimed mining property at its Marlboro Sand & Gravel site in Bennettsville, South Carolina, to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue (CWR), a non-profit wildlife rescue organization that provides sanctuary, rescue and rehabilitation for wildlife, farmed and exotic animals.

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. is pleased to announce plans for modernization and expansion of its Lehigh Cement Company plant in Mitchell. The company will invest more than $600 million in the plant modernization project which will increase production capacity while also significantly reducing energy usage and emissions per ton of cement produced.

When Hurricane Harvey struck the Houston area in late August, a number of our employees stepped in to help their community. Darryn Lindsey, Area Operations Manager, Hanson Aggregates worked with fellow Hanson managers, Sean Steagall and Jake McCurry, to rescue people in a nearby flooded neighborhood. The team used a boat from the Brazos plant to pick up and evacuate more than 25 people.

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. is pleased to announce that five of its cement plants have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) prestigious ENERGY STAR certification for 2017. The company’s cement manufacturing plants in Leeds, Ala., Union Bridge, Md., Buda, Texas, Redding, Calif. and Waco, Texas, all perform within the top 25 percent of cement plants nationwide for energy efficiency and meet strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA. This is the fourth consecutive year the Union Bridge plant has received ENERGY STAR certification and the third consecutive year for the Leeds plant.

Hanson Aggregates‘ Lithonia (Georgia) Quarry hosted the Greater Lithonia Chamber of Commerce’s final Coffee Connections of 2017 and offered business owners and stakeholders a bus tour of the operation, On Common Ground News reports. Quarry Office Manager Chris Edwards led the tour through the entire operation, including the pit at the bottom of Pine Mountain where the rock is excavated.

Lehigh Hanson's Princeton Quarry recently donated $65,000 to cover the costs of Habitat for Humanity of Johnston County's next home building project in Princeton for a needy family. Employees at the Princeton Quarry and the area office have already volunteered countless hours on two previous Habitat for Humanity projects in the county.
